Workload: full time (Monday - Friday 10am - 6:30pm)
Contracted job for 7 months, possibility for continuation

Salary: £23,000 pa.

We have two openings for this role, successful applicants will work side by side during the research, development and production of Parblex™ in our lab facility in Leyton.

We’re looking for a versatile researcher with a background in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Polymer Science to join our team to assist with running experiments, producing high quality batches of bioplastic and ensuring the facility operates seamlessly.


  • Operate bioplastic production equipment

  • Plan experiments and reach data-driven conclusions

  • Run and analyze standard material tests

  • Assist the team leader in establishing project objectives related to formulation workflows and provide estimated timelines

  • Coordinate with team in planning experiments to meet the project deadlines

  • Communicate the progress and data analysis in the form of technical reports

  • Evaluate and recommend adoption of new technologies

  • Maintain lab safety and provide safety guidance to researchers in the lab

Skills & Requirements

  • MSc Chemistry/Biochemistry/Polymer Science minimum, exceptional BSc applicants considered

  • 1-5 years industry experience in a relevant field prefered

  • Well-developed independent research skills

  • Significant lab experience

  • Strong background in polymer materials, polymer physics, morphology, rheology, molecular weight, solubilities, or physical/ mechanical properties of polymers

  • Understanding of structure/property relationships, and experience with the interactions between various materials and crosslinking systems

  • Ability to work in fast-paced startup environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of coatings and catalytic chemistry would be a plus
