Lab Assistants (Internships)

Location: Leyton, London

Starting Date: Year round options (2 weeks minimum)

Reports to: CTO

Workload: full or part time (Monday - Friday 10am - 6:30pm)

Our first materials are all developed using industrial potato waste as replacements for harmful plastics and particulate boards used in every day products.

We’re looking for a selection of enthusiastic lab assistants to support our R&D team with the production of samples, sheets and further research into innovative materials.

Primarily targeted at current students and recent graduates, but if you have a scientific/production background and want to lend a hand then still get in contact.


  • Help run experiments and reach data-driven conclusions

  • Run and analyze standard material tests

  • Assist the team leader in establishing project objectives related to formulation workflows and provide estimated timelines

  • Batch produce samples and sheets for the production/marketing team

  • Coordinate with team in planning experiments to meet the project deadlines

  • Communicate the progress and data analysis in the form of technical reports

  • Assist the R&D team with day to day tasks

  • Maintain lab safety and provide safety guidance to researchers in the lab

Skills & Requirements

  • BSc/BA Material Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Product Design or similar (can still be studying)

  • Well-developed independent research skills

  • Lab experience

  • Ability to follow a set procedure for experiments

  • Ability to work in fast-paced startup environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Effective written and oral communication skills
