Workload: full time (Monday - Friday 10am - 6:30pm)

Salary: £357/week

We’re looking for a Chemical Engineer to join our team for 10 weeks to refine and develop a working prototype of our novel chemical extraction system. The successful applicant will be working alongside the R&D team and a Civil Engineer to turn initial design specification into reality. After assisting in installation, the applicant will run initial tests to confirm the efficiency of the design and make further iterative changes to improve the product.


  • Apply process analytical expertise to evaluate the efficiency of the extraction

  • Plan experiments and reach data-driven conclusions

  • Develop production and operations systems

  • Build jigs and scale machinery to improve outputs and efficiency

  • Model data flows and production maps

  • Assist the team leader in establishing project objectives related to formulation workflows and provide estimated timelines

  • Coordinate with team in planning experiments to meet the project deadlines

  • Communicate the progress and data analysis in the form of technical reports

  • Evaluate and recommend adoption of new technologies

  • Maintain lab safety and provide safety guidance to researchers in the lab

  • Techno-economic report on the cost effectiveness of the MVP

  • Produce a full working MVP by the end of the project

  • Map out how to scale the MVP for larger production

Skills & Requirements

  • MSc in Chemical engineering

  • Well-developed independent research skills

  • Lab experience

  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics and production systems

  • Knowledge of plastic production and associated machinery

  • In-depth systems mapping

  • Fabrication abilities for prototype machines

  • Ability to work in fast-paced startup environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Effective written and oral communication skills
