What is Chip[s] Board?

Chip[s] Board is a biomaterial innovation company, developing environmentally friendly materials using circular economy principles.

Read more about us here.

Where can I buy your materials?

Currently our materials are not for sale, but sample boxes and small sheets will be available via our webshop from 2019.

Chip[s] Board ltd are the only distributor at present.

What is your shipping policy?

Once samples and small sheets are in production shipping globally will be available, although our aim is to establish manufacturing at multiple sites across the globe to prevent the need for extensive shipping.

Why haven’t you replied to my email?

Chip[s] Board ltd is still a start-up so our teams are small, please bare with us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

How do I order wholesale?

Please contact sales@chipsboard.com for any wholesale or special requests and our team will get back to you shortly.

What is your lead time?

Once an official order has been placed and confirmation of payment has been received, materials can be shipped worldwide from London within 5-7 working days depending on stock availability.

How are the materials made?

Please see the about page for further information.

Are the materials biodegradable?

Our early tests have shown that all our materials are biodegradable compatible, but we are working with third parties to get this confirmed so we can apply for full Cradle 2 Cradle certification.

Do the material use plastic or resins?

None of our materials involve the use of toxic resins or chemicals derived from oil. All the components are derived from abundant natural resources.

What are the technical properties?

Please see our materials specification downloads.

Can I paint or veneer CSB/CPB?

Both materials are highly compatible with veneering, painting, lacquering and other processes; but we would highly recommend users avoid using any finishing techniques that involve the addition of toxic chemicals or plastics to the boards.

Once CSB/CPB has been veneered with melamine or other plastic it is no longer recyclable or biodegradable. For this reason we have developed coloured version and are working on biocompatible laminates.

Will the material start breaking down in my home?

Although biodegradable, the materials will not start rotting or breaking down during their normal lifespan. The materials require the presence of bacteria and heat as found in industrial composting to trigger their decomposition. As with other particle boards, CSB and CPB will start to soften and deteriorate if kept submerged in water.

Do you have any agents/distributors worldwide?

Chip[s] Board ltd is the sole distributor and manufacturer of our materials worldwide. We are a B2B company and as such deal directly with the brands we work with. We are not yet looking for official distributors but.
